Congratulations on choosing a couture bridal gown from SUGARKANE. We look forward to collaborating with you in creating your dream gown. Before the official process begins, please read the contract below carefully. It must be filled in, signed, and dated, along with your deposit.

1.2 Design Consultation

The Process of Creating Your Dream bridal gown The Initial Consultation Meeting with our designer for one hour will begin the process. This consultation is $100 and we start with a relaxed discussion of the bride’s wishes and dreams for her engagement day. You will need to bring any ideas and inspirations you love, either on a board or on Pinterest. We will begin the collaboration process to create the most beautiful and unique bridal gown just for you. The designer will guide you as to the most flattering designs for your figure, and possible fabrics, and explain how she will adjust them to make them fit like a second skin. We brainstorm and imagine the perfect dress while taking detailed notes for the next meeting - the design consultation via WhatsApp video or FaceTime or Zoom.

The time involved to create your couture bridal gown is up to 3 - 12 months, depending on the complexity. Bookings within this time frame are preferred. If orders are outside this timeframe, an additional fee may be charged. The design meeting is charged at $100 and is paid at the time of booking. If you order your couture wedding gown with SUGARKANE, the $100 design consultation charge will be deducted from the final payment. At this meeting, the designer will sketch in detail your dream gown. Once the design and fabrics or embellishments are agreed upon, the designer takes exact measurements and makes all the necessary notes to begin the first draft of the custom pattern. Fittings are booked in at this stage. The Designer will provide a quote, the client makes a 70% deposit before materials are ordered, and the excitement begins! If you change your mind after this point, the deposit is non-refundable. If the wedding date changes, the timeline will need to be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

1.3 Measurements and Sizes

There may be 2-4 communicating fitting pictures/videos that will be depending on the complexity of the design and time of order.
1. Gown is made in chosen fabric and has the internal structure built-in (corset)
2. The gown will be put on one of our models with the same if not similar measurement and figure for custom fit accuracy before the gown is detailed. This process creates the final pattern for your wedding gown, therefore your weight needs to remain stable. Photos and videos will be sent to you via WhatsApp. This is a time when any changes to the design should be communicated.
3. At this point we will need your recent body measurements preferably bust waist and hip just to compare to see if there are any changes between the first measurement and second. The measurement will aid us to make the proper adjustments based on your specifications for a perfect fit. Your satisfaction is our topmost priority.

FAQ

Changes to weight

The second communicating fitting picture is where your decisions need to be finalized, and your weight needs to be stabilized. If you lose or gain weight that requires reconstruction of your couture dress, or you change your mind on the design, you may incur additional charges.

Why is my deposit non-refundable?

The deposit becomes a cancellation fee as fabrics may have been purchased, patterns have been developed, and hours of designing have been made on your behalf.

What happens if I change my mind?

What happens if I lose or gain weight?

Because the dress is custom-made for you, it is very important that you are fully committed to it before we begin. Once we have begun making your dress, we cannot accept returns or cancellations for any reason such as you changed your mind, found a cheaper dress somewhere else, called off the wedding, etc.

What if I don’t like my bridal dress halfway through?

This is why we go through an extensive consultation process, to prevent any hesitation or second-guessing. During the consultation, we sketch the wedding dress silhouette for you to help you visualize it and to ensure you are happy and have confidence in your decision. You are welcome to bring trusted family and friends to fittings for support and feedback.
We realize that having a custom dress made is a sort of evolutionary process, and sometimes it may be necessary to make changes to the design or construction to make it work. However, the earlier in the process these changes can be made the better, so if you are thinking that you would like to make a change, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can accommodate your request. For the most part, if you let us know soon enough we can make minor changes at no additional charge. If there is a major change that requires the purchase of more material or additional labor, there may be extra charges which will be agreed upon by both parties before the changes are made.
